Trend Alert: Fringing
Whilst most usually associate fringe with 20’s flapper dresses and Western leather garments, designers at NYFW have found a way to incorporate the new season trend in everything from evening dresses to bags and shoes making one of the most coveted trend of the season.
Proenza Schouler featured evening skirts with cascading fringe fluidly swaying as the pieces moved down the runway. Thakoon added fringing to elegant tops, providing a unique take on the growing trend creating a youthful edge whilst remaining elegant and sophisticated.
Tommy Hilfiger and Tory Burch were also among the New York designers to feature fringe in their collections using the embellishment to create an edgy yet ladylike effect in their piece. It seems the fringe trend has not just stopped at New York with designers in London such as Marchesa also on the bandwagon creating elegance and fluidity with the popular embellishment.
However it’s not just on the runway that fringe is making an impact. The New York Street Style ‘scene’ reflected the growing trend with many fashion bloggers, editors and celebrities attending the shows sporting what has proven to be one of the seasons most coveted trends.
