Pantone Colour Report Women's Fashion Spring 2015: En Plein Air
I’m sure we all remember the scene in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ when Miranda Priestly explains how in fact that Andy’s ‘blue sweater’ “was selected for [her] by the people in [the] room”. We all laugh however that is not too far from the truth as Pantone have just released their Spring 2015 colour report, telling the world what they should be wearing. So of course we at Shine Trimmings & Fabrics had to have a look and let you know.
With New York Fashion Week coming to a close it is the time to reflect on the recurring colour trends on and off the runway that will be sure to feature at the upcoming Spring Racing Carnival as well as line the pages of glossy magazines and hang on racks in department stores in the coming months. According to Pantone's Fashion Color Report Spring 2015 this season is all about cooler softer pastel, and neutral tones, with accents of understated brights following the “En Plein Air” palette of natural subtlety.
“Many feel compelled to be connected around the clock because we are afraid we’ll miss something important. There is a growing movement to step out and create ‘quiet zones’ to disconnect from technology and unwind, giving ourselves time to stop and be still. Color choices follow the same minimalistic, ‘en plein air’ theme, taking a cue from nature rather than being reinvented or mechanically manipulated. Soft, cool hues blend with subtle warm tones to create a soothing escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.”

After analyzing the runways around the world Pantone have selected 10 must have colours for the season. It seems all the classic colours have been included in brighter modern context, for Orange its Tangerine similar to our very own classic Orange Juice shade, for Pink it is Strawberry Ice (Rosebud), Light Brown, Toasted Almond (Skinny), Mint is Lucite Green (Holiday). It is predicted that Blue will be the big colour of the season with three shades predicted to feature- Aquamarine (Prince), Scuba Blue (Caraibi) and Classic Blue (Prussia).
