Tips For Sewing Tissue Lamé
- Lamé can fray and snag easily so always use a new needle, preferably a small ballpoint.
- Change your needle more regularly than you normally would. If your needle is blunt it can create pulls in the fabric.
- Thread recommended is a good quality polyester such as Gütermann thread.
- Be aware that the fabric does fray when handled a lot, so consider adding extra seam allowance if the pattern is complicated.
- If you do need to unpick a seam, gently rub the needle holes to move the fibres and hide the holes.
- Using fray stop on the edges once cut can prevent some fraying. Always remember to test the fray stop on the fabric first in case it stains.
