Tips For Sewing Tissue Lamé Lamé can fray and snag easily so always use a new needle, preferably a small ballpoint. Change your needle more regularly than you normally would. If your needle is blunt it can create pulls in the fabric. Thread recommended is a good quality polyester such as Gütermann thread. Be aware that the fabric does fray when handled a lot, so consider adding extra seam allowance if the pattern is complicated. If you do need to unpick a seam, gently rub the needle holes to move the fibres and hide the holes. Using fray stop on the edges once cut can prevent some fraying. Always remember to test the fray stop on the fabric first in case it stains. Share on Facebook Prev | Next
